ORDER:

The Government of Andhra Pradesh visualizes education as being critical to create productive and skilled workforce that will catalyze development and attract investments into the State, besides providing gainful employment and economic opportunities to its people. To achieve this, the Government has contemplated to improve the English language teaching and learning skills of both teachers and students in the State, so that they can take advantage of the emerging job opportunities in the new economy in India and abroad.

2. As of now, there are about 310 B.Ed., colleges in Telugu medium in the State with an intake of 33,903 students per annum to cater to the needs of teaching and learning in Telugu medium. However , for promoting effective teaching and learning in English medium, there are no exclusive English medium B.Ed., colleges in the State either in the Government or Aided or Private sector, though there has been demand for the same. Therefore, with a view to meet the growing requirement of providing quality teachers in English medium, the Government examined the feasibility of setting up of new B.Ed., colleges in English medium ,and decided to permit the same under private sector, so that the trained candidates will have placement opportunities in the State of Andhra Pradesh, in other States and also in other developing countries.

3. Government have examined the matter and decided for setting up of exclusive English medium B.Ed., Colleges in the State at the rate of 2 per district by following the due procedure stipulated by the National Council for Teacher Education in private sector.

4. The Director of School Education ,Hyderabad, Director ,State Council of Education, Research and Training,Hyderabad and Secretary, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education ,Hyderabad are requested to formulate necessary guidelines for setting up of exclusive B.Ed., colleges in English medium with reference to the latest amendments /rules issued by the National Council for Teacher Education on the subject and submit proposals to the Government for issue of necessary orders.
